This lovely cone shaped, hand painted, Russian nesting set has different scenes painted on each piece. The 5 piece matryoshka nesting set is made up of 5 different pieces that all "stack" or "nest inside each other. The pieces are hand painted in blues with winter scenes painted all the way around the piece. The largest piece shows a group of snow covered cabins under a snowy sky with a peasant driving his horse drawn cart through an opening in the fence towards his home.  The second and third pieces each are painted with snow covered cabins and haystacks out in front. The last two pieces are painted with snow covered trees all the way around them. (Please note these are not mass produced in China. All our Russian nesting sets are one of a kind, unique, hand carved from Linden wood so no two are identical.) This set was hand crafted in Sergei Posad, Russia. The largest piece is just under 6.75 inches tall and the smallest is just under 1.25 inches tall - and all 5 pieces "nest" or stack inside each other.
