This amazing hand carved Russian Santa Claus is hand painted by the artist in burgundies, greens, and whites with gold and white highlights. This Santa is painted with a unique floral style called “Abramtsova”. This technique is extremely rare and time consuming. It requires the artist to paint a layer of clear frosted paint then quickly remove a portion of the paint before it is dry. This creates a frosted layering over the previous layer of paint giving an iridescent look. Currently, Natasha, the artist who painted these Statuettes, is the only artist we know of using the Abramtsova technique. Santa is dressed in a lovely burgundy, green, white and gold cloak with a matching walking stick in one hand and is balancing a large, decorated Christmas tree on his shoulder with the other hand. This Christmas tree is decorated with little individually decorated gold, bronze, and white ornaments that dangle freely. SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW. This statue is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once properly dried. It does not warp, change shape, or crack and these artistic pieces will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! (Please Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas or statues from China. All our Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two are identical.) This statue is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist. The Santa measures just under 10.75 inches tall (to the top of his tree) by 6.5 inches wide.
