This lovely purple and gold hand painted 5 piece Russian matryoshka nesting doll set (stacking doll) is etched and painted creating these beautiful dolls. Each set is made up of 5 girls (or sisters) and they are painted with light purple scarves, white and gold headdresses, and a floral pattern etched and painted on the front and back of each doll. The faces and costumes of this set are fantastic (SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW) and each doll is accented in white, green, and gold paint while the headdress, edging, butterflies, and center of the flowers are created using gold glitter. This nesting set is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is crafted from Linden wood - you can clearly see the wood grain through the purple paint and in the natural state of the wood. The tallest doll in the set measures just under 6.75 inches tall while the smallest is just over 1.75 inches tall.
