This lovely hand carved and hand painted Russian Santa Claus is painted in reds, turquoises and golds with a winter country scene on the front of his cloak. The scene is that of the Siberian countryside with snow covered trees along the snowy banks of a meandering stream. (SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW). This statue is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. All Russian Santas are hand carved from Linden Wood and each one is a unique piece!) This Grandfather Frost (as he is called in Russia) is made in Sergei Posad, Russia. This Santa is signed by the artist and measures just under 7 inches tall by 3.5 inches wide.
