This unbelievable highly detailed Russian Santa Claus is intricately hand carved and hand painted by the artist creating amazing work of art! This Santa is cloaked in a high collared overcoat that is painted with a gorgeous floral pattern in whites, grays, tans, with gold highlights. This Santa is painted with a unique style called “Abramtsova”. This technique is extremely rare and time consuming. It requires the artist to paint a layer of clear frosted paint then quickly removing a portion of the paint before it is dry. This creates a frost layering over the previous layer of paint giving an iridescent look. Currently, Natasha, the artist who painted this Statue, is the only artist we know of using the Abramtsova technique. The scenes on the front and back of this Santa are of a couple of quaint winter cabins along the banks of a stream which is winding through the snow covered forest with the golden sunset in the background of both scenes. Santa has a lovely decorated staff in one hand and his pack is at his side. (SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES OF THE FLOWERS AND THE DETAILS OF THE SCENES!) This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist. This nicely sized Santa measures just over 13.5 inches tall by just over 7.5 inches wide.
