Product Description

WHAT AN AMAZING WORK OF ART!!

This enchanting and whimsical Russian Santa Claus is hand carved and hand painted by the artist creating this amazing brightly colored Santa sitting on a rooster. Santa's cloak is painted in greens and blues and the rooster is carved and painted in bright colors with amazing detail! SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW. This Santa statue is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. This artist is one of the few who does his own carving as well as painting. SEE ARTIST BIO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE!! This statue is formed out of 3 sold pieces of Linden wood. The solid Linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All our Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia. This Santa is signed by the artist and measures just over 12 inches tall by 14.25 inches from the front of the rooster to the tip of his tail feathers 6.75 inches wide.

THE PERFECT GIFT FOR COLLECTORS OF ROOSTERS OR UNUSUAL SANTAS!

Alexey Kikin, a master of the Abramsova (or sometimes spelled Abramtcevo) Style of Painting, dreamed of becoming an artist from early childhood. After leaving school, Alexey entered the Abramsova Art College founded by famous Russian artists, Vasnetsov, Polenov and Vrubel. Alexey gravitated towards animal sculptures and focused his studies in this area. After graduating from the Art College, he worked as a teacher teaching sculpture. Later, partnering with his wife and fellow artist, Tatiana, they created a unique style that is all their own. This style combines wooden animal sculptures with fairy painting creating this fantastic and unique style which Alexey describes as a style “in which Russian modern and empire style are merged.” We hope you enjoy his works!
