This hand carved and beautifully hand painted 5 piece Russian matryoshka nesting doll set (stacking doll) is painted in bright colors to create this Russian Family. This "family" includes a girl in TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN DRESS with water buckets slung over her shoulder on the outside doll. Her younger brother is on the second doll carrying his own water bucket.  Her mother or sister is on the next doll in a traditional head scarf with spoon in hand ready to dish up a generous helping of borscht or schi.  Another young brother is on the fourth doll and the smallest doll is a traditional Russian Babushka or Grandmother.  The other four dolls all fit inside the largest one! This nesting set is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is crafted from Linden wood. The largest doll measures approximately 6.25 inches tall and the smallest is just over 1.5 inches tall.
