This fantastic winter blue and gold Russian Santa Claus is intricately hand carved and hand painted by the artist. This Santa is poised in a walking position making large strides with his cloak billowing out behind him. In one hand he is holding a large golden walking stick and in the other is a brightly lit lantern lighting the way! He is dressing in a very bright and dapper vest with decorated trousers and sturdy boots. The artist, T. Makarova, highlights Santa’s cloak and outfit with gold paint giving texture and a very ornate pattern. This statue is lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once properly dried. It does not warp, change shape, or crack and this artistic piece will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! (Please Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. All Russian Santas are hand carved from Linden Wood and no two are ever identical!) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist. The Santa measures approximately 15 inches tall by 9 inches wide (please note this includes his staff sticking out by his side).
THIS SANTA IS NUMBERED 1 OUT OF JUST 3!!

GOLDEN UZOR PAINTING
This Santa has a special rare type of painting called “Golden Uzor.” Tatyana Makarova, the painter, painstakingly and carefully layers the paint a number of times in order to achieve the thick, raised, golden effect in Uzor painting. It may be difficult to see in the pictures, but it creates a unique look and feel in person. Currently we know of only two painters who are painting the traditional Uzor style on their hand crafted Santas. Tatyana Makarova is one of them. Her Santas are stunning!
