WOW! WHAT A PERFECT GIFT FOR COLLECTORS OF VICTORIAN ART!! This beautiful light blue Russian Santa Claus is hand carved and hand painted by the artist creating this amazing piece of artwork with Old World Russian village scenes. The front of Santa's cloak depicts a snowy village main street with a variety of shops. Notice the decorated Christmas tree on the lower left as well as the one just inside the open door of the nearest shop. The street has shoppers strolling along the lane. Also note the icicles hanging from the buildings and the row of birds sitting along the railing of the balcony. The back of the Santa has a scene homes and a church along the promenade - with villagers strolling together and walking a dog. A friendly Snowman is there to greet them! Santa is holding up his pack and his pack and the edges of the scenes are decorated with swirling, blowing snow. This Santa is very lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad Russia, and is signed by the artist. This nice size Santa measures just under 14 inches tall by 7.75 inches wide.
