This beautiful Russian handcrafted mother of pearl lacquer box features the famous Moscow Church called the HRAM CRISTA SPACEETELYA or "THE CATHEDRAL OF CHRIST THE SAVIOR." The box is literally a half shell of Mother of Pearl. The inside of the lid also has a rustic Russian Orthodox church with wooden out buildings. Russian lacquer boxes are famous for the many layers of painting and the layers of lacquer between each layer of painting. These numerous layers give the 3D impression of depth. Some boxes have over 10 layers of lacquer between the layers of paint. The style of painted - FEDOSKINO - and the artist's signature are written on the lid of the box. The light reflects wonderfully off the Mother of Pearl creating a rainbow of color! The box, of course, features the famous “Onion Domes” which Russian Cathedrals are famous for. This box measures approximately 8.5 inches across by 5.25 inches back to front by 2.5 inches tall when closed. This box looks gorgeous in person - pictures just do not do it justice!!
