This wonderful hand painted Russian Golden Uzor Santa Claus has an ornately painted red, black, and gold cloak with a brightly decorated Christmas Tree and a brightly lit lantern! The artist, T. Makarova uses the Golden Uzor Style in which she highlights Santa’s cloak and bag with gold paint giving texture and a raised golden pattern. (See close-up pictures below.) This statuette is lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist. This nice size Santa measures approximately 15.25 inches tall by 8 inches wide.
THIS SANTA IS NUMBERED 1 OUT OF JUST 2!

GOLDEN UZOR PAINTING
This Santa has a special rare type of painting called “Golden Uzor.” Tatyana Makarova, the painter, painstakingly and carefully layers the paint a number of times in order to achieve the thick, raised, golden effect in Uzor painting. It may be difficult to see in the pictures, but it creates a unique look and feel in person. Currently we know of only two painters who are painting the traditional Uzor style on their hand crafted Santas. Tatyana Makarova is one of them. Her Santas are stunning!
