This beautiful light blue Russian Santa Claus is hand carved and hand painted by the artist creating this amazing piece of artwork with Old World Victorian village scenes. The front of Santa's cloak depicts a warmly lit Victorian home with icicles hanging from it on a snowy village lane with a snowman standing near a decorated Christmas tree. The back of the Santa has a scene of another village lane with brightly lit Victorian homes, a snow covered stone bridge over a rushing stream, and a couple of well bundled ladies standing on it. There is a Snowman being built by a little boy off the side of the. Santa is holding a decorated staff and his cloak is decorated with swirls that look like swirling, blowing snow. This Santa is very lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad Russia, and is signed by the artist. This nice size Santa measures just over 10.25 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
