This charming Russian Santa Claus is hand painted in tans and browns and has a lovely scene painted on the front of his cloak. The scene is that of a group of children, bundled up, playing in the snow, building a snowman. The back of Santa's cloak is painted with an elegant edging and pattern across the back. The collar, edging and cuffs of his cloak as well as the edging of his cap are highlighted in gold, metallic paint which causes the Santa to shimmer. Santa is holding a mini Christmas tree in one hand and carrying a traditional Russian bear in the other. SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW. This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once it is properly dried. It does not warp, change shape, or crack and this artistic piece will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! Please Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. This Santa (or Grandfather Frost as he is called in Russia) is made in Sergei Posad, Russia and is signed by the artist. It measures approximately 10 inches tall by 5 inches wide.
