This fantastic brightly colored red, blue  and gold Russian Santa Claus is wonderfully hand carved and hand painted by the artist. Notice the detail on his cloak - from the design made up of hundreds of dots of paint giving texture to his costume to the red, gold and blue edging along the front and back of his cloak. Please also notice the ornately decorated staff and the sweet little bird he is holding in the palm of his hand! This Santa's beard is white with some gold in it and he has a sprig of winter or Rowan berries caught in it. SEE CLOSE UP PICTURES BELOW. This Santa is lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved so it will last a lifetime. Linden wood was once used to make drafting boards because it is so stable once it is properly dried. It does not warp, change shape, or crack and this artistic piece will bring enjoyment for a lifetime! (Note: These are not molded or mass produced as are some molded resin Santas from China. All our Russian Santas are hand carved from Linden Wood and no two are ever identical!) This Grandfather Frost (as he is called in Russia) is made in Sergei Posad, Russia, and is signed by the artist. The Santa measures 8 inches tall (to the top of his staff) by 4.25 inches wide.
