This hand painted Russian Collector plate is the perfect gift for those interested in Russian Art and Culture or Russian Fairy Tales. This plate is from the RUSSIAN LEGENDS series of limited edition decorative collector plates produced in Russia. The series depicts famous Russian legends and fairy tales. They are patterned after the designs and style found on Russian lacquer boxes from the village of Palekh. The famous Russian fairy tale depicted on this particular plate is that of The Golden Cockerel written by Alexander Pushkin and shows Tsar Dadon opening the silken tent of the Shamakhan Princess. The plates are created with 16-17 layers of ceramic pigments along with 18 kt gold on hard fired porcelain. The firing period was approximately 195 days at the historic Vinogradoff Porcelain factory. Distributed for Tianex by the Bradford Exchange, each plate was assigned an individual Bradex number. The reverse side is written in Russian describing the title, story, and serial number. No chips or cracks - although there are 2 small holes on the back for easy hanging. Along the bottom edge of the plate is the artist's signature. This plate measures just under 7.75 inches in diameter.
