This lovely hand carved and hand painted Russian Santa Claus is a wonderful gift for those collectors of unique Santa Statues in your life. This Santa has a rustic, Old World look to him and his nose and face are a bit red from the wind as he makes his way through the snow carrying that large, stuffed toy sack! The scene on his pack is that of three young people all bundled up in the cold as they make their way through the the snowy village - one pulling a sled and the other two rolling a large snowball - perhaps the beginnings of a snowman?? This Santa is painted in muted pastels - his coat is light blue/light turquoise with tans and pinks with a snowy village scene painted on it and his trousers are olive. This Santa is very lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia. This Santa is signed by the artist and measures approximately 6.75 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide.
