This fantastic hand carved and hand painted Russian Santa has a kind expression on his face. The scene on the front of Santa's cloak is that of a ballerina overlooking a river with a little Nutcracker statue by her side. The scene in the background is that of the Peter and Paul Fortress with a traditional Russian Orthodox Church with its famous golden Onion Domes! Santa's cloak is painted in reds with blues and whites and gold highlights. Santa is holding a lantern in one hand and a toy sack in the other - the pack is decorated with white swirls and gold accents. This Santa is very lightly lacquered so it is easily cleaned and protected. The solid linden wood is dried for almost 2 years before it is carved. (Note: These are not mass produced molded resin from China. All Russian Santas are one of a kind, unique, and hand carved from Linden Wood so no two Santas are ever identical.) This Grandfather Frost, as he is called in Russia, is made in Sergei Posad, Russia. This Santa is signed by the artist and measures just under 6.5 inches tall by 3.75 inches wide.
